Through the Looking-Glass

The long awaited arrival of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland brought with it a very fashionable surprise for it appears the fashion world has found a muse in the edgy new fantasy flick. The Lexington Avenue windows of Bloomingdale's flagship store in Manhattan are filled with Tom Binns' jewelry modelled after The Red Queen, The White Rabbit and The Cheshire Cat, among other kooky characters. IN the home department there are Tea Party vignettes set up and movie props decorate the dress floor where designer Sue Wong's "Alice"-themed cocktail dresses hang.

Swarovski, which collaborated with the film's costume designer Colleen Atwood, is selling replicas of the sparrow pendant worn by Mia Wasikowska's Alice character in the film. Even Urban Decay had jumped down the rabbit hole and crafted an eye shadow palette housed in box made to look like a gold-spined book. When you open it, out comes a pop-up scene from the mushroom forest; and, of course, there's a keyhole latch.OPI nail polish has created a limited time color collection with names inspired by the world of Alice. You can take your manicure up a notch with matte and glitter-rich colors like Thanks So Muchness, Absolutely Alice, Mad as a Hatter and Off With Her Red!

So go ahead, take a trip through the looking glass and be inspired. But I'm out for now, because I'm late for a very important date.
